Amiran Gamkrelidze – Epidemiological situation needs paying attention in Gardabani, expanded testing will begin in 2 villages
The epidemiological situation needs paying attention in Gardabani Municipality of Kvemo Kartli region. Expanded testing will begin in 2 villages from July 21 – said Amiran Gamkrelidze, Head of National Center for Diseases Control and Public Health.
According to Gamkrelidze, imported cases of COVID-19 are increasing in Georgia. These imported cases are identified in a timely manner.
“However, the situation is somewhat alarming in Gardabani villages where 20 cases have been recently confirmed. There are 11 cases revealed in one village,” Gamkrelidze.
Gamkrelidze added that expanded testing will make it possible to quickly identify the cases and transform the infected persons into isolation for medical treatment.
He said that Coordination Council would discuss the facing threat and possible closure of the villages on July 21.
