Amiran Gamkrelidze – Cases of re-infection are rare, but possible

Amiran Gamkrelidze, Head of the National Center for Diseases Control and Public Health said that there have been no cases of re-infection with novel coronavirus detected in Georgia. “Cases of re-infection are rare all over the world, but possible,” Gamkrelidze said.

He explained that this is why Georgia chose to follow the example of China and recovered patients undergo through the 2-week-long self-isolation phase though such recommendation was not given by the World Health Organization.
