Opposition Girchi leader requests MP mandate termination

The leader of the opposition Girchi party, Zurab Japaridze, applied to the Georgian parliament on Thursday to terminate his parliamentary mandate.

Japaridze does not believe other opposition parties have any specific vision or plan to carry on their political fight for now.

“Girchi is divided. Party’s formal chairman is Iago Khvichia. As far as I know, the second part of my party would enter the parliament if any chance,” Japaridze noted.

On December 4, Girchi leader Japaridze said he would not collaborate with other leaders of his party Iago Khvichia, Vakhtang Megrelishvili, and Alexander Rakviashvili.

Earlier this week, the United National Movement party (UNM) and the Republican Party MPs also applied to parliament to terminate their mandates.
