MIA denies mobilization of special ops at UNM office

The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) denied information on the mobilization of special ops at the central office of the opposition United National Movement (UNM) party spread in the media.

Interior Ministry informed that the media shot aired footage at the Special Tasks Department base, located near the UNM office. “Law enforcers move on this territory every day. Nothing special is happening today,” the MIA said.

Lawyers of Nika Melia, Chairman of the opposition United National Movement (UNM) party, demanded recusal of the Tbilisi City Court’s judge Nino Chakhnashvili. They claimed that the special ops are mobilized at the UNM central office that means that the court decision about Melia’s imprisonment is pre-ruled. The judge denied the recusal.

The trial of Nika Melia, Chairman of the opposition United National Movement (UNM) party, is underway at Tbilisi City Court. Now, Nika Melia’s lawyers filed a motion to postpone the trial until tomorrow.

Representatives of opposition parties are gathered at the UNM central office waiting for the court decision.
