Zurab Japaridze: PACE resolution repeats demand for release of political prisoners, new parliamentary elections

“The resolution of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) anew repeats the demand for the release of political prisoners and the necessity of holding new parliamentary elections,” said the leader of “Girchi – More Freedom,” Zurab Japaridze.

According to Japaridze, the resolution also entails “criticism of all those repressive regulations that the ‘Dream’ [Georgian Dream party] has adopted.”

“This concerns restrictive measures aimed at critical media, demonstrators, the political opposition, and the non-governmental sector.

There is a separate note that if the regime decides to still send a parliamentary delegation to the PACE, their credentials will not be recognized. It is worded in slightly more diplomatic terms, but the essence remains the same,” he stated.
