“It is difficult for us as human beings to see Georgian citizens taking such steps, but for the better future of the country, it is necessary for the process to have a legal assessment,” said Levan Makhashvili, Chair of the EU Integration Committee.

According to Makhashvili, opposition politicians have been observed in activities against Georgian national interests for many years.

“What the Prosecutor’s Office does is the legal assessment of processes, which society saw in live broadcast during the last year. As for covert recordings, if the released information is true, this once again confirms the process that the Prosecutor’s Office is implementing. This is nothing new; for years, these people have been observed in the activities against Georgia’s national interests. Everything is apparent and should be given a legal assessment, whatever hard it may be for anyone,” he said.

Imedi TV released a recording in which Droa party leader Elene Khoshtaria and Girchi-More Freedom party leader Zurab Japaridze allegedly discuss instructions received from foreigners, including military-related information.
