Deputy Economy Minister: Fitch’s positive outlook revision confirms Georgia’s sound macroeconomic policy

International credit rating agency Fitch Ratings has upgraded Georgia’s sovereign credit rating outlook from “stable” to “positive”, while affirming the rating at BB. The revision once again confirms that Georgia is pursuing sound macroeconomic policies, Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Vakhtang Tsintsadze said.

According to Tsintsadze, Fitch’s decision also demonstrates that Georgia’s economic policy is trusted by international rating agencies and that the country’s investment attractiveness is steadily increasing.

“The improved outlook is underpinned by Georgia’s macroeconomic performance. It is worth highlighting the rapid economic growth, the record level of international reserves and, more generally, the sustained reduction in the current account deficit, all of which ultimately contributed to the positive revision of the rating outlook,” Tsintsadze said.

The Deputy Economy Minister noted that, according to Fitch, Georgia’s economic growth in 2023-2025 was twice as high as the average growth rate of countries with comparable credit ratings.

“Fitch has revised its forecast for Georgia’s economic growth in 2026 upward and expects growth of 7.5% this year. All of this is driven by the Georgian Government’s sound economic decisions. The government continues to work actively in this direction to ensure that high economic growth rates are maintained in the coming months and years,” Tsintsadze said.

The Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development released Tsintsadze’s comments.
