“Unity is crucial. Zurab Japaridze has always held a sound position regarding unity,” member of the United National Movement, Irakli Pavlenishvili, stated.

Pavlenishvili was asked about Zurab Japaridze’s statement concerning opposition unity.

“There are certain issues which, following consultations, may be discussed. For instance, it is far too early now to discuss any cabinet members and so forth. Zurab Japaridze has not had a meeting with the party; however, he has met with members of our party, and consultations will continue. When we speak about Zurab Japaridze, we are speaking about a person who has played a very significant role against the oligarchic regime,” Irakli Pavlenishvili stated.

Asked whether, “according to circulating information, Zurab Japaridze has held meetings with Lelo for Georgia. Are you considering cooperation with Lelo?”, Pavlenishvili replied:

“The only political party which, apart from taking part in the elections, did not believe in participation alone is Gakharia’s party. He stated directly that he does not intend to be in opposition and intends to be an appendage to Ivanishvili. Whether it be Lelo or other political forces, their actions and positions matter. If they desire to participate in certain formats of opposition, then the door must be open to everyone. I repeat once again, based on their past actions, their module determines what their agenda will be. Naturally, there are question marks in society regarding their future. If this becomes clear, then discussions with anyone are possible.”
