Ukrainian President views stopping Russian gas transit as one of Moscow's biggest defeats
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy viewed the suspension of Russian gas transit for the European Union as one of Moscow’s biggest defeats.
“When Putin was given power in Russia more than 25 years ago, the annual pumping of gas through the territory of Ukraine to Europe was 130+ billion cubic meters. Today, the transit of Russian gas is 0. This is one of Moscow’s biggest defeats.
The transformation of energy resources into weapons and cynical energy blackmail of partners is what has deprived Russia of its most attractive and geographically accessible market.,” he said.
The Ukrainian President stressed that the common task now is to support Moldova during the period of energy transformation.
“We must also endure the hysteria of some European politicians who prefer mafia schemes with Moscow instead of transparent energy policy.
We also very much hope for an increase in American gas supplies to Europe, which President Trump has already spoken about. Cooperation and maximum offers from partners on the market will make prices more comfortable,” he stated.
