“Within the European Political Community summit, we held talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy regarding bilateral relations and existing challenges between the two countries,” Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili told journalists in Yerevan.

Botchorishvili stated that the conversation with Zelenskyy and Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha focused on both current and future relations between Georgia and Ukraine.

“We discussed the importance of developing cooperation between the two countries. Georgia has maintained a consistent and firm position regarding its attitude toward and support for Ukraine throughout this period. It is important for us to see the same attitude from the Ukrainian side,” FM said.

According to Botchorishvili, the meeting with the Ukrainian delegation had not been planned in advance.

“The meeting was not prearranged. It took place within this format at the initiative of the Ukrainian side and lasted several minutes. Nevertheless, we managed to address important issues affecting relations between the two countries,” she noted.

Botchorishvili also said that diplomatic relations between Georgia and Ukraine were discussed during the meeting.

“There was a discussion about the diplomatic relations between the two countries, specifically regarding the presence of ambassadors in each nation. It remains to be seen how this situation will develop. Georgia has consistently maintained a clear and firm position toward Ukraine for an extended period, and we have reiterated this stance in international forums whenever possible. It is essential that our relations are founded on mutual respect. However, the topic of sanctions was not addressed in this discussion.” Botchorishvili added.
