Chinese doctor who alerted authorities about the coronavirus outbreak dies

The Chinese doctor Li Wenliang who warned the public of a coronavirus outbreak in December 2019 has died of coronavirus in Wuhan today, foreign media reports.

Li was questioned by the local health authority, and was later summoned by Wuhan police to sign a reprimand letter in which he was accused of “spreading disinformation online.”

He was hospitalized on Jan. 12. On Feb. 1 he was confirmed to have the coronavirus.
