Speaker to Ambassadors: Joint effort key to national peace, security, and prosperity
“I am honoured to address you as part of the annual conference of Georgian ambassadors. This format offers a valuable opportunity to assess our nation’s foreign policy and diplomacy,” said Speaker of the Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, during his speech at the closing event of the ambassadorial conference.
“The year 2024 has brought significant and challenging political events for our country, as well as geopolitical and regional security concerns. Despite these challenges, Georgia remains steadfast in its commitment to the principles of democracy, the rule of law, and the protection of human rights. One of the key moments of 2024 was the holding of historically important parliamentary elections in Georgia.
Last week, the OSCE/ODIHR published its conclusion on the elections, which, in essence, dispels any remaining doubts about their integrity. To counter the spread of disinformation by certain groups, it is essential for ambassadors to actively engage in defending Georgian democracy,” emphasized Papuashvili, highlighting the election of the sixth President of Georgia.
Regarding foreign policy, the Speaker noted that it would remain focused on maintaining stability and security within Georgia, integration into European and Euro-Atlantic structures, and strengthening partnerships with strategic allies.
“Security challenges persist, and it is our duty to further enhance Georgia’s security and prosperity while safeguarding our national interests,” Papuashvili stated.
“In conclusion, we would like to express our sincere gratitude for your invaluable work. Together, we will continue to uphold Georgia’s respected standing in the international arena and pursue a policy focused on the peace, security, and prosperity of our country,” he concluded.
