President believes church should set example of national accord in ending polarization

Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili congratulated Georgian people on the 106th anniversary of autocephaly restoration of the Georgian Orthodox Church.

“This day is not only a significant part of our state independence and national identity, but is a foundation of our European future.

Georgian church has always unified and strengthened our nation historically. Today, in this significant period for our country when Georgia is on a decisive stage of the European path, the role and power of the Georgian church have the utmost importance in ending polarization and it should set an example of national accord,” President wrote on Facebook.

March 25 this year marks the 106th anniversary of autocephaly restoration of the Georgian Orthodox Church.
