PM: President has no moral right to speak about elections; by vetoing Election Code amendments, she supported CEC's being at standstill

“Salome Zourabichvili (Georgian President) has no moral right to meet the Central Election Commission (CEC) Chairman, Giorgi Kalandarishvili,” said Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.

According to Irakli Kobakhidze, the President has no moral right to speak about elections because she supported the CEC’s being at a standstill by vetoing Election Code amendments.

The PM reminded that the President did not nominate Giorgi Kalandarishvili as the candidate for CEC Chair because the opposition leaders did not support his candidacy.

“Everyone can see Salome Zourabichvili’s only goal is the sabotage, the only objective to create threats and problems for the elections. Of course, Salome Zourabichvili will not succeed, and these speculations, which she joined regarding migration, represent a speculative campaign of the collective National Movement,” he said.
