German Ambassador to Georgia Barbara Voss says she is impressed by the ties and connections between the two countries and their people. The ambassador made the remarks in a video address released by the German Embassy in Georgia.

Voss said she intends to continue actively working in Georgia on issues including women’s rights, culture and environmental protection.

“I am very happy to be here. I have only recently started setting up my office. I brought various things with me from India, where I was previously posted. For example, beautiful bags made from recycled old Indian garments, or saris,” she said.

“In India, I was actively involved in promoting the rights of women, girls and minorities, as well as diversity and environmental protection. These are precisely the areas in which I would like to continue my active work here.”

The ambassador said she was also impressed by the contacts and connections between Germany and Georgia, including in the fields of culture, the economy and sustainable development.

“I am impressed by the contacts and connections that exist between our countries and our people, for example in the areas of culture, the economy and sustainable development. Of course, I would also like to further deepen our relations in these fields,” Voss said.

She also invited Georgians to offer her recommendations on places to visit and dishes to try.

“But now I am interested in your advice, as you know much better: What should I try from the amazing Georgian cuisine? Where should I travel? To the mountains, to Svaneti? Or to Bolnisi, where German colonists once lived? Or somewhere else? I look forward to hearing from you,” the ambassador said.
