PM meets speaker of legislative chamber of Uzbekistan’s Oliy Majlis

Irakli Kobakhidze, Prime Minister of Georgia met Nuriddin Ismoilov, Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of Uzbekistan’s Oliy Majlis, the Government Administration reported.

During the meeting, the two sides emphasized the productive cooperation between the legislative bodies of Georgia and Uzbekistan.

The Prime Minister thanked the Speaker of the Legislative Chamber for hosting the Georgian delegation and spoke about the friendly relations between the two countries. Irakli Kobakhidze highlighted the potential for deepening bilateral economic cooperation.

“Our countries enjoy good economic cooperation, but there is great potential for its expansion. Bilateral trade volumes can be significantly improved. We are making every effort to enhance our country’s transit function and connectivity. Georgia is experiencing rapid economic growth. Over the past four years, our average economic growth rate has exceeded 9.5%, which is the highest in Europe. We follow a highly liberal economic policy, with very low tax rates and a minimal number of taxes. All of this creates excellent conditions for your investors to engage in economic and entrepreneurial activities in Georgia. Cooperation in the tourism sector is quite active. There are many areas where we can further deepen our collaboration. There is great potential for strengthening ties in arts, science, education, sports and other fields. We are very interested in developing cooperation in all these directions,” stated the Prime Minister of Georgia.

The Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of Uzbekistan’s Oliy Majlis congratulated Irakli Kobakhidze on the convincing victory of the “Georgian Dream” party in the parliamentary elections and his reappointment as Prime Minister.

“It is a great honor for me to welcome you to the Legislative Chamber of the Republic of Uzbekistan. I warmly recall your first visit to Uzbekistan’s legislative body in 2018, when you were the Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia. It is a pleasure to now host you in the capacity of Prime Minister of Georgia. I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely congratulate you on your reappointment as the Head of Government and the convincing victory of ‘Georgian Dream’ in the parliamentary elections. We are also very pleased that Shalva Papuashvili has been elected as the Chairman of the 11th convocation of Parliament. In this regard, please convey our warmest congratulations to my colleague. Once again, I want to state that the decisive victory of Georgian Dream is a significant political event, reflecting the broad-scale reforms implemented by the Government of Georgia in all directions, as well as the support of the Georgian people.Relations between Uzbekistan and Georgia, as well as inter-parliamentary dialogue, are at a high level. Georgia has already become a model of democratic development and reforms; the elections were conducted in this spirit. You have successfully handled pressure and serious tensions in the country,” stated Nuriddin Ismoilov.
