Irakli Kobakhidze meets with representatives of mass media

Irakli Kobakhidze, Chairman of the Georgian parliament met with representatives of mass media over Law on Broadcasting in the parliament this afternoon. The management of Georgian Public Broadcaster (GPB) participated in the meeting. This was the second meeting of Kobakhidze with heads of mass media outlets.

“Speculations that Georgian Public Broadcaster has 50 million GEL from the state budget is not true. This is a mystic figure. In fact, Public Broadcaster spent 39 million in 2017,” Vasil Maghlaperidze, General Director of Georgian Public Broadcaster (GPB) stated. According to Maghlaperidze, Georgian Public Broadcaster is the most transparent organization among mass media outlets.

Grigol Gogelia, Chairman of Board of Trustees of Georgian Public Broadcaster (GPB) commented about the document presented by Chamber of Control. According to Gogelia, there are many issues in the document which the Board disagree with. “It has become a trend to hit the Board all the time that is not proper,” Gogelia stated.
