A phone conversation was held between Georgia’s Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili and US Assistant Secretary of State, during which the importance of the US support to Georgia was emphasized, – US Ambassador to Georgia Ian Kelly said when commenting on Giorgi Kvirikashvili’s address to the Russian authorities.

In addition, Kelly noted that the US authorities have contact with the Russian government on Archil Tatunashvili’s case.

“We do not recognize new borders and the independence of two regions of Georgia. We called Russia occupant and, accordingly, when you are an occupant, you share responsibilities under the rules of international law. There is no reason for keeping the corpse in the occupied territory and not transferring it to the family.

We support the Government of Georgia in every effort to solve this issue”, – US Ambassador said.
