GYLA requests Public Defender establish special medical group to monitor Mzia Amaglobeli's health

The Georgian Young Lawyers’ Association (GYLA) has requested that the Georgian Public Defender establish a special medical group to monitor Mzia Amaglobeli’s health, the GYLA announced on Sunday.

According to the GYLA statement, “Based on medical documentation received on January 31, 2025, Mzia Amaglobeli is not undergoing all the necessary tests and procedures to fully assess her health condition.”

“Although we applied to the relevant agencies on February 1 to ensure the testing mentioned above, we still don’t know what reaction we received. Mzia Amaglobeli has been on a hunger strike for 22 days, which raises the possibility of her health deteriorating.

To adequately monitor her health, it is necessary to form a special team of doctors that includes a resuscitation specialist, an endocrinologist, and metabolic illness specialists.

If necessary, the panel should include a neuropathologist, a cardiologist, and a gastroenterologist. The Public Defender was also given a list of doctors who are willing to participate in the monitoring procedure,” the statement reads.
