MP Levan Makhashvili hopes that Strasbourg court will finally end unfair criticism of 2024 elections
“We welcome this process and hope that it will once and for all put an end to the allegations of fraud that the society has seen surrounding the 2024 elections,” said MP Levan Makhashvili, a member of the parliamentary majority, in response to a question about the complaint filed by GYLA with the Strasbourg Court regarding the 2024 parliamentary elections.
He added that the government will cooperate fully with the court to ensure a swift and specific decision.
“We are deeply hopeful and eager for this process to conclude soon. Naturally, such proceedings will take several months, possibly more than a year, but we will do everything in our power to assist the court in reaching a timely and definitive resolution. We aim to finally put an end to the unjust criticism, falsification, and disinformation campaigns that targeted Georgia during the parliamentary elections, campaigns that many Europeans, who claim to be friends of Georgia, continue to exploit for unjust critique,” said Levan Makhashvili.
The Georgian Young Lawyers’ Association (GYLA) stated today that the Strasbourg Court commenced examination of complaints submitted concerning the 2024 parliamentary elections. GYLA clarifies that their demands do not include the annulment of the election results.
