GD's Mdinaradze: Those who tried to drag Georgia into war must be held accountable

“All those who attempted to involve Georgia in war, denied the existence of the ‘war-or-peace dilemma,’ brought former president Mikheil Saakashvili into the country to stage a coup, and organised violent protests must be held accountable before the Georgian people,” wrote Mamuka Mdinaradze, the executive secretary of Georgian Dream, on social networks.

“Any member of society who still supports them should think about it now,” Mdinaradze added.

According to him, from the beginning of the war in Ukraine, Georgian Dream warned society that “shadowy, informal forces” led by foreign bureaucrats were trying to impose a war-or-peace dilemma on Georgia, “which the radical opposition, along with obedient media and NGOs, attempted to portray as false.”

“The meeting between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin addressed all the key questions:
Was this war a proxy war? – Yes. It was a confrontation between the West and Russia through a third country, as Trump himself confirmed.
Was Georgia involved in this war? – Yes. Not only involved, but regarded as a second proxy state. Without our resilience, Georgia would now be in ruins.
Could this war have been avoided? – Yes. Both American and Russian leaders agree that if Trump had been in office, the war would not have taken place.
Was the war-or-peace dilemma real? – Absolutely. It was the central dilemma our country faced, and with the support of the Georgian people, we made the only right choice—preserving the nation and tens of thousands of lives, though at a significant political cost.

All those who attempted to involve Georgia in war, denied the existence of the “war-or-peace dilemma,” brought former president Mikheil Saakashvili into the country to stage a coup, and organized violent protests must be held accountable before the Georgian people. Any member of society who still supports them should at least ask themselves why they continue to support people whose victory could have cost them their very lives?!” Mdinaradze stated.
