For Georgia's MP Parulava: We work to ensure visa restrictions do not affect Georgian people; responsibility lies with government

Giga Parulava, Deputy Chairman of the parliamentary faction of the Gakharia for Georgia party, has emphasised that if anyone bears responsibility for the current situation, it is the Georgian Dream government. He stressed that the suspension of visa-free travel should not impact ordinary citizens.

“Both the government and the opposition are exploiting June 11 for populist ends. At its core, this is a technical issue related to the handling of diplomatic visas. As for the long-term outlook, we regret to say that we do not hold positive expectations regarding the Georgian Dream government’s actions. We are doing everything within our power to prevent the visa-free travel restriction from affecting the Georgian people.

This victory belongs to the Georgian people, and if anyone bears responsibility, it is the government. Responsibility must be individualised and should not be laid upon citizens. Sadly, the government’s undemocratic policies and measures have led the country to this point. We trust in our strategic partners, their support, and common sense. We sincerely hope that the suspension of visa-free travel will not harm the ordinary citizens,” Parulava has stated.
