For Georgia’s MP: Ukraine expected greater support from Georgia, which shaped their statements; hopefully, relations will be restored

According to MP Giorgi Sharashidze, a member of the Gakharia for Georgia party, Georgia could have taken far more dignified positions on Ukraine.

“There were certain resolutions that Georgia joined, but the foreign policy pursued by the Georgian Dream regime was not acceptable. I refer to their rhetoric directed against the Western world,” Sharashidze noted.

He added that if relations between Georgia and Ukraine are restored to good order, this can only be welcomed.

“Setting aside Ukraine’s own position, Georgia was the leader within the trio. But the reason it is no longer involved in the negotiation process is the authorities’ fault. They did everything in their power to halt Georgia’s process of integration into the European Union. It would appear that Ukraine expected greater support from Georgia, and that conditioned their statements. Georgia must recover, through democratic reforms, the leading role it once held within the trio,” Giorgi Sharashidze told GPB First Channel.
