“The term ‘independence’ goes beyond mere freedom from Russia; it encompasses freedom from all foreign countries and influences,” writes Mamuka Mdinaradze, leader of the parliamentary majority, in a social media post.

“April 9, 1989: Weapons—tanks and shovels. The target of the assault was Georgia’s independence and the lives and freedoms of its people.

April 10, 2025: Weapon—sanctions. Target—Georgia’s economic independence and the freedom of its citizens. The lesson: ‘Independence’ extends beyond freedom from Russia; it includes freedom from all foreign powers!

P.S. I intentionally refrained from mentioning the USSR or Russia at the outset to avoid subsequently naming others…” adds Mamuka Mdinaradze.
