Droa’s Khoshtaria calls for greater unity: Political coordination is obligation, not just benefit
Elene Khoshtaria, leader of Droa party, stated that the meeting between opposition representatives and ex-President Salome Zourabichvili focused on areas where the opposition should coordinate efforts.
Khoshtaria emphasized that strengthening coordination is the responsibility of all political actors.
“Deepening coordination is not just beneficial but an obligation for all political actors. We must offer society a more unified approach because many players are involved—the president, political parties, and others. This initiative is welcome, which is why we are here,” she stated.
Regarding specific priorities, Khoshtaria noted that President Zourabichvili highlighted political persecution and prisoners of conscience. She agreed on the importance of solidarity with Mamuka Khazaradze and political prisoners.
“It is also crucial to recognize yesterday’s rally, where a large crowd demonstrated to the world that the fight in Georgia continues. This is the path toward new elections,” she added.
Khoshtaria further stressed the significance of coordinated efforts on the international front.
“The President’s address to the British Parliament today is particularly important. We discussed its content and agreed that a more structured approach among political actors will be beneficial. Whether our work is new, good, bad, or effective is for the people to judge. Our responsibility is to do the work and let the public evaluate it,” Khoshtaria concluded.
