Lelo's Kupradze on Khoshtaria’s prison sentence: This is political persecution
“When a so-called court sentences a female politician, a mother of four children, to one year and six months in prison for writing on a political banner with a felt-tip pen, this is not justice,” said Irakli Kupradze, a member of Lelo – Strong Georgia.
According to Kupradze, the imprisonment of Droa leader Elene Khoshtaria is politically motivated.
“When a so-called court sentences her under these circumstances, it is not justice, it is not a judicial decision, but rather a move by the ‘Georgian Dream’ for political persecution and retaliation. This cannot be assessed in any other way,” Kupradze added.
For context, the Tbilisi City Court sentenced Elene Khoshtaria to one year and six months in prison.
