Parliament Committee Holds Closed Hearing on Mamuka Mdinaradze’s Nomination as Head of State Security Service
Mamuka Mdinaradze, nominated for the position of Head of the State Security Service, was heard today at a closed session of the Parliament’s Defense and Security Committee.
Committee Chairman Aleko Tabatadze explained that the session was closed due to security considerations, as required by parliamentary regulations. He expressed confidence in Mdinaradze’s candidacy, highlighting his professionalism and experience.
“The country’s national security will be in reliable hands,” Tabatadze stated.
Following the committee hearing, Mdinaradze’s nomination will be submitted for a vote at a plenary session. To be confirmed as Head of the State Security Service, he must secure the support of at least 76 deputies.
The position became vacant after Anri Okhanashvili resigned on August 23. Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze subsequently nominated Mdinaradze for the role.
