Coalition for Change appeals to CEC to retain its election number

The Coalition for Change has appealed to the Central Election Commission (CEC) to retain its electoral number.

According to the party’s statement, the appeal is per amendments made to the Election Code in 2021 and is “in no way related to participation in the so-called local elections, which are falsified, criminal, and Russian-orchestrated processes.”

“According to the Election Code, this is not electoral registration. It is merely an application for retaining an electoral number in the future. We emphasize that this formal procedure is not in any way connected with participating in the so-called local elections, which in reality are falsified, criminal, and Russian processes.

For these reasons, Coalition for Change will proceed with this procedural application, as retaining the number is linked to the effective operation of the party (and not participation in the so-called elections), especially under the existing authoritarian regime.

We remain consistent in our stance – having refused to enter the so-called parliament, withdrawn our party lists, rejected state funding, and refused to appear before the so-called commission, we also reject participation in the so-called local elections, which the regime is using to legitimize the status quo. We only recognize new, free, and fair parliamentary elections. We are making this clarification to prevent any future speculation.

That is why we invite everyone on July 19 at 19:00 at TSU (Tbilisi State University),” – the statement concludes.
