Botchorishvili: Georgian Dream only gov't in independent Georgia's history to rule without war

“Georgian Dream represents the sole administration in independent Georgia’s history that has governed without experiencing war,” Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili told Spanish newspaper El MUNDO.

Botchorishvili noted that Georgian Dream has held power since 2012, enabling the ruling party to “concentrate entirely on national development during this period.”

“The August 2008 War remains vivid in our collective memory, giving us profound appreciation for the value of peace,” she emphasized.

According to the Minister, “Georgia came under serious pressure following the outbreak of war in Ukraine, threatening the country’s national security.”

“After the war began in Ukraine in 2022, Georgia found itself under serious pressure that threatened our national security and raised the risk of a new conflict with Russia. We thoroughly analyzed what forces were behind these campaigns. When they demanded we send volunteers to Ukraine on government aircraft, impose sanctions on Russia, and take certain reactive measures, no one offered guarantees that this wouldn’t provoke a Russian response that would endanger our country’s security. Under such circumstances, our responsibility clearly intensifies – to do everything possible to protect our state,” she added.
