An investigation is ongoing into the tragedy that occurred at the Mindeli mine and all persons responsible will be strictly punished,- reads the statement of Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze.

Prime Minister expressed condolences to the family members of victims.

According to the PM, the mine will not resume working until the end of the criminal investigation and high quality international examination.

“Another tragedy occurred at the Mindeli mine this morning. I offer my sympathy and support to the families of the victims in this difficult moment.

The state cannot allow the life and health of its citizens to be unprotected. We made a decision to close the mine.

An investigation is ongoing into the tragedy and all responsible persons will be strictly punished. The mine will not resume working until the end of the criminal investigation and high quality international engineering and technical expertise.

Employees of the mine will be compensated for this period,” the Prime Minister said.

4 people died and 6 were injured as a result of an accident that occurred at the Mindeli mine today morning.
