Giorgi Gakharia expresses condolence to family of murdered girl in Gori

Giorgi Gakharia, Minister of Internal Affairs arrived in Gori town of Shida Kartli region and expressed condolence to the family of the murdered 9-year-old girl.

Gakharia thanked law-enforcers, who were involved in the investigation process of the case. “This is a big tragedy. I want to console to the family and whole country. The investigation will continue, and the result will be adequate so that every citizen feels safe,” Gakharia stated.

The 9-year-old girl was found dead on the bank of the Liakhvi River on October 25. The family of the deceased girl claims that there are signs of violence on her body. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the person detained on a charge of the murder, aged 34, is previously convicted of money extortion.

An investigation is in progress under Article 109 (2) (b) of the Criminal Code of Georgia (murder under aggravating circumstances of a minor or a helpless person knowingly by the offender).
