Vasil Maghlaperidze: Project “Diverse Georgia” will be place for diversity and important relationship
Diversity is our wealth and not what we should be afraid of, ” – Vasil Maghlaperidze, Director General of Georgian Public Broadcaster made the regarding statement during the presentation of the new project of the First Channel “Diverse Georgia”.
“In ‘The Knight in the Panther’s Skin’ it is said that “we have countless colors” and we should not be afraid of this. If we use this wealth wisely, we will be very strong and we will see this world broadly, so this project is a small part of great vision, ” – said Vasil Maghlaperidze.
According to him, the main goal of the project is to provide the part of the population, who knows Georgian language poorly or even does not know, with the information in Armenia and Azerbaijani languages.
“Yet another goal is that young people who work on these programs will have opportunity of professional advancement and this is great wealth for Georgia. I’m sure that lot of interesting ideas will be emerged there. As soon as we will have possibility we will start broadcasting in other languages as well. It is important that foundation of the project was laid today”, – Director General of GPB noted.
According to him, the project will promote the cultural exchange, advance understanding of diversity and be the important place for relationship in the country.
The presentation of the First Channel’s project “Diverse Georgia” has been held at the building of the Public Broadcaster earlier this afternoon. Within the scope of project, the first broadcast of online radio- television in Azerbaijani and Armenian languages has been launched.
The project “Diverse Georgia” aims to insure accessibility of information for ethnic minorities, promote the integration process, increase civic consciousness and promote dialogue among diverse cultures.
The presentation was attended by representatives of international organizations, as well as diplomatic corps, including ambassadors of France and Armenia, as well as representatives of the Embassy of Azerbaijan.
