UNM's Tsereteli: U.S.-Georgia relations are grounded in established principles
Gigi Tsereteli, a member of the United National Movement, asserted that the relationship between the United States and Georgia is grounded in clearly defined principles, and nothing is unconditional.
“I am confident that the issue of Georgia will not be overlooked, and we will soon learn the nature of the U.S. response. However, I believe that core issues such as the rule of law, independent courts, free elections, and the consolidation of democracy will always remain at the forefront of discussions,” Tsereteli stated.
He emphasized that the U.S. relationship with Georgia has been built on specific principles for years.
“We’ve witnessed the critical attitudes expressed in the U.S. Senate and Congress, along with several recent statements from the State Department. The nature of the forthcoming response will depend on the new administration, which has yet to fully take shape.
While they are currently focused on negotiations with Russia regarding Ukraine and ending the war, I am sure that the issue of Georgia will not be sidelined. The key issues will remain in the spotlight,” Tsereteli concluded.
