UNM's Sanikidze: Ivanishvili's power structure could collapse on October 4
“Ivanishvili’s power structure could collapse on October 4; that’s why they arrested Khabeishvili with shameful charges. There’s no way back now,” declared Levan Sanikidze, a member of the United National Movement.
According to him, the Georgian people will deliver their verdict on October 4.
“Levan Khabeishvili was arrested along with Murtaz Zodelava because these were the people most active in calling for the peaceful demonstration on October 4, one of the most significant manifestations in this country’s history. This was done to convince Georgians once again, and we still believe this, and nothing can change it, that a change of government is possible on October 4.
On 4 October, Ivanishvili’s power structure could collapse. That’s why they were arrested, that’s why they were hit with shameful charges. Shameful, absolutely unimaginable; this is the madness we find ourselves in. The way back isn’t just blocked anymore, it’s destroyed. On October 4, it’s make or break; how many more of us will they arrest before then? Let them arrest us, really, I do not care. What matters is that on October 4, we’ll be there in our hundreds of thousands, and then the Georgian people will deliver their verdict. Levan Khabeishvili won’t have to spend more than a few days in there,” Sanikidze remarked.
Commenting on the arrest of former Defence Minister Juansher Burchuladze, Sanikidze noted that this was done to intimidate Georgian Dream’s former associates.
“I don’t know what fate awaits Juansher Burchuladze. Truth be told, I’m not interested. However, this was presumably done to intimidate their former associates. You see, if the system hadn’t been built to fear such people, Juansher Burchuladze wouldn’t be languishing here now either. They should have thought a bit more, and now at least they’re warning the remaining ‘GD associates’ who are on the outside: if Bidzina Ivanishvili isn’t overthrown on October 4, then you will face such consequences from Ivanishvili afterwards,” Sanikidze noted.
