UNM's Sanikidze: Opposition should focus on confronting harmful and pseudo-Christian values promoted by Georgian Dream

“Georgian Dream is, by its very nature, an anti-Christian, harmful and shameless union trampling upon the Ten Commandments,” declared Levan Sanikidze, member of the United National Movement.

He argued that the opposition must speak openly about Georgian Dream’s pseudo-Christian posturing.

“In my opinion, the primary issue the opposition should address is the role of Georgian Dream in undermining genuine values. The government, which promotes pseudo-Christian ideals, is responsible for Gelati’s flooding and has shown little commitment to protecting cultural heritage sites or upholding Christian morality and core values. I personally believe that Georgian Dream is anti-Christian in nature, a mockery of the Ten Commandments, and a shameful, destructive alliance,” Sanikidze emphasised.

When a journalist asked whether the opposition was attempting to exploit religion to win public trust, Sanikidze pointed to the conduct of Georgian Dream representatives at the funeral of Catholicos-Patriarch Ilia II.

“I believe all of Georgia witnessed clearly how Georgian Dream behaved at the Catholicos-Patriarch’s funeral, filming with three-metre candles and drones in the hope that Georgians might somehow be persuaded of their Christian devotion. It is my firm view that these harmful people should not even have the right to speak about Christianity,” Sanikidze said.
