UNM's Khabeishvili: Giving up is a crime; if we cast aside our fear and heed Saakashvili's call, victory is inevitable
“I have no intention of wailing and lamenting, despite the torment that accompanies every minute spent in a solitary cell,” writes Levan Khabeishvili, Chairman of the Political Council of the United National Movement, in a letter sent from prison.
As Khabeishvili writes, genuine dissidents have been sentenced to seven years, students are being held hostage, and accordingly, giving up is a crime.
“I have no intention of wailing and lamenting! Despite the torment that accompanies every minute spent in a solitary cell. Genuine dissidents have been sentenced to 7 years, students are being held hostage, and accordingly, giving up is a crime! Between us and victory stands fear, which Ivanishvili fans into flame with every passing moment. If we cast aside our fear and heed Saakashvili’s call to unite, then victory is inevitable. Until we summon the courage and go on the offensive, we will remain in the clutches of the Georgian Dream. The offensive means hundreds of thousands of people taking to the streets in protest.
As for me, one and a half years remain, and I am consumed by a single desire to serve my people. Do not give up; strength lies in unity!”
writes Khabeishvili.
The court reclassified the bribery charge against Levan Khabeishvili as sabotage and sentenced him to two years and six months in prison.
