UNM Chair: Participation in predetermined local elections is unacceptable

Tina Bokuchava, Chairperson of the United National Movement, stated that participating in elections where the outcome is predetermined is completely unacceptable.

Regarding Salome Zourabichvili’s role, Bokuchava explained that following the March 31 rally, the party considered the potential for collaboration based on the importance of specific issues, although such a necessity has yet to arise.

“We have made our stance on local elections very clear: participation in elections with predetermined results is unacceptable. Such ‘elections’ occur in Russia, whether presidential, local, or parliamentary. The term ‘elections’ is unjustified when the Russian regime is planning another special operation against the Georgian people.

As for Salome Zourabichvili’s format, after the rally on March 31—where expectations for a specific statement from her were notably high and ultimately led to disappointment—we decided to keep open the possibility of cooperation based solely on necessity and the importance of the issues at hand. However, to this point, such a necessity has not materialized.

Nonetheless, we continue to collaborate with other political parties, particularly on foreign policy matters and in positioning Georgia’s democratic forces among our international allies,” Bokuchava stated.
