Traffic to be restricted in Tbilisi due to Alilo procession

On January 7, in celebration of Christmas, the Alilo procession will take place, and as a result, vehicle movement on certain streets will be gradually restricted.

According to Tbilisi City Hall, the procession will begin at First Republic Square at 14:00, temporarily disrupting traffic in the area. Vehicles will be redirected to alternative routes.

“Specifically, vehicles travelling from Kostava Street to Akhvlediani and Kiacheli Streets will use Vashlovani and Ekaladze Streets. Vehicles coming from Tabukashvili Street towards Kostava Street will be diverted to Rustaveli Avenue, bypassing Republic Square. Additionally, turning onto Olive Tree Street will only be possible via Rustaveli Avenue.

Starting at 15:00, traffic restrictions will also apply at Liberty Square, preventing vehicles from travelling from Kote Abkhazia and Shalva Dadiani streets towards the Square.

While Baratashvili Street is closed, vehicles can reach Liberty Square via the right bank of the Mtkvari River and Kote Abkhazia Street. Vehicles heading toward Avlabari will be redirected to the dry bridge, Khetagurov Street, and the left bank of the Mtkvari River,” the Tbilisi City Hall stated.
