Salome Zourabichvili: Based on President's plea, Desmond and Leah Tutu Legacy Foundation voices solidarity with Mzia Amaglobeli

Based on the President’s plea, the Desmond and Leah Tutu Legacy Foundation has expressed support and solidarity with Mzia Amaglobeli, former Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili has posted on Facebook.

Zourabichvili said, “The Foundation, which promotes peace, justice, human rights, and social activity, has voiced unwavering solidarity with Mzia Amaglobeli and all journalists facing persecution.”

Mzia Amaglobeli, founder and director of the media outlets Batumelebi and Netgazeti, has been on a hunger strike for 26 days at Rustavi Prison. The Batumi City Court ordered her imprisonment as a preventive measure on January 14, following her arrest on January 12 under Article 353 of the Criminal Code, which pertains to the assault of a police officer.
