Salome Zourabichvili: Soon there will be real and final victory — new elections and new political space

Former President of Georgia Salome Zourabichvili addressed protesters, saying that the current regime “has already lost” and that its “days are numbered,” calling on supporters to hold out “a little longer.”

Zourabichvili said she believes a “final victory” is approaching, followed by new elections and the creation of a new political environment.

“This is a regime that sells and alienates Georgian land. A new office has been opened here — not only for construction, but also for land deals with the United Arab Emirates — as if the Rustaveli cinema could not remain on Rustaveli. These are the actions of this regime, and this is why it has already lost. It no longer has any moral ground to continue,” she said.

She added that despite the hardship endured by activists and families of detainees, persistence is essential.

“I know these are not easy words for the parents of political prisoners, nor for the activists who stand here every day and carry this movement forward. But nothing is ever easy when it comes to saving this country, to not hand it over to Russia and to those who disguise themselves in Georgian clothes.

Our victory is already here. Soon there will be a real, final victory — new elections, a new society, and a new political space, which this country truly needs. This is our future, and for this future we stand together,” Zourabichvili said.
