President says Georgian people want to end polarization

Georgian people want to end polarization, see new political forces, and set prospects for Georgia’s future, said Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili during the solemn reception with diplomats.

According to the President, ending polarization is not the political will either of the majority or the opposition, which “continue clinging upon their power and party interests.”

President Zourabichvili went on to say that one of the major problems which contributed to the polarization was the issue of ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili. However, “everybody should stop speculations and wait for the court decision” on December 22.

“I want to be sure that the court ruling will give the possibility to the population to find the way out of the situation,” she said.

The President of Georgia claimed that “absurd and less relevant issues” add to the challenges that may determine the country’s future. “Georgian people are clear and determined over their aspirations.”

“We should all be concentrated on our duties, management of the country, resolution of problems, stability. We should focus on Europe, peace, and welfare. I wish this to my country and the world in 2023,” President said.
