President Kavelashvili: Encouraging that Georgian Ambassador meets U.S. President, Georgia ready to reset relations

“It is encouraging that our ambassador has already met with the U.S. President and conveyed our messages. The previous administration had a different approach—now that has changed. We are ready for a reset,” stated the Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili.

According to the President, Georgia is waiting for reciprocal steps from the U.S. and is open to dialogue.

“We were discussing the values and challenges that the current administration is now addressing—challenges we were already confronting earlier. We were fighting against these challenges, not against the US or the EU, when there was a double standard on their part. The current U.S. administration is also pointing this out. Labeling ‘pro-Russian’ when there are no arguments has become a tired cliché. It’s a baseless accusation.

We are ready for a reset and are awaiting reciprocal steps. I’m confident that once there is a full understanding of the situation, our meeting will take place.

We are not changing our course. We are honest with the public about our goals and the path we’ve chosen. The responsibility for any countermeasures lies with the current U.S. administration, particularly the Secretary of State. We remain open to dialogue,” he stated.

Georgia’s Ambassador to the United States, Tamar Taliashvili, recently presented her credentials to U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House.
