Six of fourteen suspects detained over October 4 Presidential Palace storming to sign plea bargains

Six of the fourteen individuals detained in a separate case stemming from the investigation into the October 4 storming of the Presidential Palace will sign plea agreements.

Specifically, plea bargains will be concluded with Giorgi Korkia, Lasha Ivanadze, Khvicha Gogokhia, Giorgi Rurua, Levan Jikia, and Sergo Megrelishvili.

The agreement has been reached with the prosecution. The state is offering plea bargains that include a three-year suspended sentence, meaning the individuals will be released from custody in the coming days.

At today’s court hearing, both sides will present their closing arguments.

In this specific strand of the investigation regarding the October 4 storming of the Presidential Palace, the fourteen detainees: Vladimer Gvelesiani, Sergo Megrelishvili, Zurab Chavchanidze, Giorgi Rurua, Amiran Dolishvili, Anton Vardanidze, Giorgi Korkia, Alexandre Chilachava, Genadi Kupreishvili, Lasha Ivanadze, Levan Jikia, Sulkhan Tugushi, Khvicha Gogokhia, and Ramaz Mamuladze face charges of attempting to seize a strategic facility of special importance as part of a group, as well as participating in group violence. The charges carry a maximum penalty of up to six years in prison.
