President calls predecessor's remarks on government absence as harmful to nation

“Today, we are in the Adjara region. Before this, we attended a coordination headquarters meeting in Kobuleti. The situation in Adjara is much better, aided by favourable weather conditions. I am confident that in a few days, everything will be almost fully restored,” stated Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili.

He mentioned that there are still a few locations where road clearing is underway.

“Roads have been cleared in all administrative centres, and nearly 90% of electricity has been restored in the Kobuleti region. There are still some areas where electricity needs to be restored. No one is immune to natural disasters, but the important thing is how you respond afterwards. That is what truly matters. The Adjara government and its municipalities are handling coordination at a very high level,” the President said.

Kavelashvili praised the coordinated efforts between the local government, municipalities, and national agencies. He particularly commended the Ministry of Infrastructure and acknowledged the contributions of the Prime Minister, Ministers of Defence, and Internal Affairs.

The President expressed gratitude for the hard work of firefighters and military personnel, working tirelessly around the clock. While their assistance is not needed in Adjara, Kavelashvili mentioned that more help may be required in the neighbouring regions of Guria and Imereti.

“Coordinated efforts will continue. The key is that no citizen is left without support. In Adjara, this is being managed at a high level, with a hotline in operation and ongoing communication where roads have not yet been cleared,” Mikheil Kavelashvili added.

He also addressed concerns about disinformation during the crisis, emphasizing its harmful effects on the country.

“In such a situation, disinformation directly harms the state,” he said, urging the public to rely on official sources and remain hopeful.

“My predecessor, who claims there is no government, is directly harming the country and the government. This is unacceptable. I urge the public to listen to those who are responsible for the development of this country,” said Mikheil Kavelashvili.
