Defence Minister Irakli Chikovani and Commander of the Defence Forces, Major General Giorgi Matiashvili, attended the rehearsal in preparation for the main national event, which features the participation of military units, scheduled for May 26, Georgia’s Independence Day at Freedom Square in Tbilisi.
The recruits of the National Military Service, who will take the military oath on Independence Day, May 26, also participated in the rehearsal. In addition to Liberty Square, oath-taking ceremonies will be held at five other historic locations.
As part of the tradition, military equipment and weapons exhibitions will take place in 21 cities and municipalities across Georgia, including Tbilisi, Gori, Akhaltsikhe, Mtskheta, Rustavi, Kutaisi, Zugdidi, Ozurgeti, Poti, Mestia, Ambrolauri, Batumi, Telavi, Akhalkalaki, Marneuli, Senaki, Samtredia, Bagdati, Chkhorotsku, Abasha, and Martvili.
