President: Independence Day reminds us to be more resolute and united, and to determine Georgia's future based on our country's own interests

“Against the backdrop of the greatest challenges facing the modern world, we must be clearly conscious of the fact that independence is not a given bestowed once and for all time, independence is a value that must be won and defended each and every day, one that demands our utmost effort and places upon us an immeasurable burden of responsibility,” declared Georgia’s President, Mikheil Kavelashvili, in his address at the ceremonial event dedicated to Georgia’s Independence Day.

According to the President, we must always keep in mind every hero who fought for independence, honour their achievements, and preserve, defend, and consolidate their legacy.

“Independence Day reminds us to be more resolute and united, and to determine Georgia’s future solely based on our country’s own interests.

We must always keep in mind every hero who fought for independence, honour their achievements, and preserve, defend, and consolidate their legacy. We must do everything in our power so that, together with our Abkhazian and Ossetian sisters and brothers, we may build a unified and prosperous Georgia, and leave our children a state that is far stronger, more steadfast, and freer.

I wish to address our future generations: you are the tomorrow of this country. Your energy is the greatest driving force in our nation’s development. God, the Motherland, the human person, the language, the homeland, the faith, the sanctity of the family, these are the eternal values that have defined our very existence.

It is upon these ideals that you must strive to be the very best in your calling, so that our Motherland may be immortal for all time,” declared the President of Georgia.
