PM Kobakhidze: Opposition unable to counter well-substantiated constitutional lawsuit documenting decades of sabotage

“The defence has failed to offer any meaningful counterargument to the thoroughly substantiated lawsuit detailing how these political parties have engaged in continuous sabotage against Georgia’s national interests since 2003,” Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze told journalists today.

Evaluating the ongoing Constitutional Court proceedings, Kobakhidze argued that the opposing counsel has resorted to delaying tactics due to a lack of substantive arguments.

“The court proceedings are unfolding compellingly. On the one hand, our side, the plaintiffs, presented a thoroughly substantiated lawsuit to the Constitutional Court, prompting a highly substantive discussion. On the other, we see an entirely flawed strategy of filibustering and playing for time,” the Prime Minister noted.

“This has a simple explanation: they simply have nothing to offer in response. You have likely heard their statements, and every single one of them is utterly unconvincing, consisting of basic, hollow political declarations. They cannot counter a well-founded lawsuit that documents one fundamental truth: throughout this period, dating back to 2003, these political entities have been engaged solely in sabotaging the country’s national interests.

Their persistent focus has been to overthrow or forcibly alter the constitutional order, pursuing this through concrete, active attempts that are plain to see. All of this is meticulously detailed in the constitutional lawsuit, and naturally, when faced with established facts, mounting any tangible counter-defence becomes near impossible,” Kobakhidze concluded.
