Culture Minister inspects preparations for Independence Day events

Georgia’s Culture Minister, Tinatin Rukhadze, inspected preparations for events marking Georgia’s Independence Day at Orbeliani Square and the surrounding area of Alexandre Garden.

According to the Culture Minister, this year’s Independence Day carries “even greater responsibility” as Georgia marks the 1,700th anniversary of Christianity being declared the state religion.

Rukhadze noted that military recruits will take the oath in Tbilisi and across the regions on May 26, while a military parade and various public celebrations will also be held.

“All ministries are involved in organizing the festivities and cultural events will take place throughout the country. Particular emphasis this year will be placed on showcasing Georgian wine and wheat, alongside sports activities, children’s spaces, and exhibitions of locally produced goods and crafts by Georgian entrepreneurs,” the minister said.

According to the Government Administration of Georgia, Independence Day celebrations will be held nationwide with a variety of events.

In Tbilisi, festivities on May 26 will take place throughout the day on Atoneli Street, in Alexandre Garden, and on nearby streets. A gala concert is scheduled for 20:00 on Atoneli Street.
