Police make several arrests at Parliament rally, including Droa Party leader Elene Khoshtaria

Several individuals were arrested at the rally near Parliament, including Elene Khoshtaria, leader of the Droa party.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Khoshtaria was detained under administrative law.

Participants in the rally attempted to block the road, but police forcefully prevented them from doing so.

Earlier in the day, law enforcement arrested two individuals under administrative law at the same rally.

The protest commenced in the early afternoon while a session of the Parliamentary Investigative Commission Investigating the Activities of the Regime and Its Political Officials from 2003 to 2012 was simultaneously taking place in the legislative body. Rally participants voiced their outrage, stating that the commission was effectively putting the Georgian army on trial, a situation they could not accept.

During today’s session of the “Temporary Investigative Commission Investigating the Activities of the Regime and Its Political Officials from 2003 to 2012” in the Georgian Parliament, Mamuka Kurashvili, Head of the Peacekeeping Operations Headquarters of the Joint Staff of the Georgian Armed Forces in 2008, and Goga Khaindrava, State Minister from 2004 to 2006, were questioned. Also interrogated was Gia Volski, presently the First Vice-Speaker of Parliament, who served as Deputy State Minister of Georgia from 2004 to 2006.
