There was a brief disorder on Rustaveli Avenue, near the Georgian Parliament, as participants and organizers arrived to set up for a rally scheduled in the evening.
Tensions rose when law enforcement officers attempted to search one individual, who refused and was subsequently detained.
The rally, organized to protest the Commission of Inquiry into the Activities of the 2003-2012 Regime and its Political Officials, is set to take place near the Parliament.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the individual was detained under Article 173 of the Code of Administrative Offences, which covers disobedience to a lawful request from a police officer.
